Today, the car is dominant force in our community and suffocates our town centers.
The development and the organisation of a community with the creation of new infrastructures such as roads, tunnels, sidewalks is meant to improve the quality of life of the population. It also requires a guarantee and durable balance between individual community needs with the protection of our environment.
A typical infrastructure project
A proper road infrastructure permits the fluidity of the network traffic and favours the development of the territory by strengthening the attractiveness of the cities centers.
The network infrastructure must be set to support the various urban needs. Its characteristics are simple:
- Allow the free movement of all transport modes (cars, public transports, cycles, pedestrians);
- Offer more comfort and cleanliness; and,
- Respond to the need of the town's population.
That is why it is important for a single project team to manage an infrastructure project from the inception until its use by the population to best guarantee its functioning in the entire conglomeration.
A precise and detailed diagnosis of every site allows to draw up an inventory of fixtures and to define the scale of the works to minimize the impact of the infrastructure construction to the local population. It is then necessary to perform an opportunity assessment study, a technical, and financial feasibility to estimate at best, the needs and project requirements while justifying the adequacy between the main technical characteristics and the cost of the operation.
From then on, the studies from conception to realisation can be made in the best possible conditions.
Beyond the project itself, it may be necessary to create further studies (traffic, environment, noise, hydraulic, atmosphere, transport...) in order to deal with the possible consequences of the infrastructure and reduce its impacts. |
