PROJECT EXAMPLE

The Southern Urban Boulevard

In order to maintain a balance between the growing population requirements, and to maintain harmony with the infrastructure and community space, this 8.5 kms urban road was developed.

This road infrastructure met the requirements of the Urban Community.

A programme of scale: the Southern Urban Boulevard

To conceive together for all.

This project was developed for and with the input of the local population.

Working jointly with the various community groups, associations, and local citizens, we ensured that the outcomes of this project met the required quality and population needs.

As part of this development, the local population, via a spokesman is thus invited to take part in the design of the project and/or debate the objectives and the characteristics of the project. Each option is then considered and a shared project design is imagined together.

The southern districts of Marseille gather more than 200,000 inhabitants and gather more than 70,000 local jobs.

The objectives in order to circumvent the centre town were:

  • To connect the southern districts;
  • To structure the network of the local agglomeration;
  • To improve the quality of life;
  • To develop public transportation;
  • To rebalance, with the profit of the soft modes (walking, bicycle), the various modes of displacement;
  • To improve the transportation flow and re-develop the district economic viability.
